Making it through 100 days of school is always something to celebrate! This Friday, February 1st, 2019 will mark the 100th day of school for the 2018-2019 Russell County school year. Everyone in the district will be celebrating all day long. The elementary and middle schools will allow their students to demonstrate 100 days of school through their attire, along with various other activities.
Students, faculty, and staff at RCHS will be celebrating the 100th day of school for the first time in many years. According to new Guidance Counselor, Shanna Darnell, there’s a lot to be excited about this week. In her new role as counselor, she favors increasing an emphasis on celebrating “the little things,” and that celebrating the 100th day of school is a perfect place to start.
Everyone here at RCHS is encouraged to participate in a “Dress Like a 100-Year-Old” challenge. In addition, each grade level, along with faculty and staff members will be challenged and encouraged to bring in $1 each. The goal is for each grade level, along with faculty and staff to raise at least $100 each. Once the money is raised, each grade will have the opportunity to decide where they want their money to go. Whether it be a charity, giving it back to their school, or to a class member in need, Mrs. Darnell hopes that this challenge will teach students a little something about giving back.
The administration is very excited to provide everyone with the chance to take part in a celebration, a few challenges, and of course…lots of fun! Don’t forget to dress up and participate in all the fun and challenges that will be taking place this Friday in honor of our district reaching its 100th day of school for the 2018-2019 school year.
