As Kentuckians begin to file their taxes this week, the attorney general is warning them to be prepared for a spike in scam calls. The callers pretend to be an IRS agent who claims they need to verify the victim's personal and financial information over the phone...or they claim the victim owes back taxes. Prosecutors recently worked with a Clark County resident who sent more than $9,000 to an IRS scammer. The attorney general says never share any personal or financial information over the phone, and know the IRS will never call and request money over the phone.
