The Columbia Police Department has been receiving reports of phone fraud and phishing scams, and would like to remind everyone to protect your personal information.
Impersonators will call or e-mail, posing as various businesses, companies or government entities requesting your Social Security number or banking information. Do NOT give out your personal or financial information over the telephone, through the mail, or over the internet unless you have initiated the contact or know who you are dealing with.
