On Thursday, February 14, 2019 at 6:18pmCT, Adair Co. Deputy Sheriff Josh Durbin initiated a traffic stop on a 1996 Dodge passenger car on Hwy 55 North. During the stop it was believed that the operator was under the influence of an intoxicating substance. The driver, Joseph Trumpis, was also found to be operating on a suspended operators license. He was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Drugs, Operating on a DUI Suspended License, No Insurance and No Tail Lamps.
A female passenger was also arrested. Amanda Northrup of Columbia, KY was charged with Alcohol Intoxication, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd degree, and Promoting Contraband 1 st degree.
Both Trumpis and Northrup were lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail by Deputy Josh Durbin. He was assisted by Deputy Brandon Hitch and KSP Trooper Billy Begley.
