An Adair County man was arrested on drug & numerous other charges as a result of an investigation by the Adair Co. Sheriffs Office and a police chase involving multiple agencies.
On Friday, April 5, 2019 the Adair Co. Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence off Hutchison Loy Road to investigate a complaint about activities going on at the residence. Upon deputies arrival, methamphetamine and an indoor marijuana growing operation was located at the residence. Home owner David Scotty Corbin was not there, but deputies were able to locate him a short time later in the limits of Columbia. A traffic stop was attempted to take Corbin into custody, which resulted in Corbin fleeing from police. That's when a police pursuit began involving multiple agencies including the Adair Co. Sheriff’s Office, Columbia City Police and Kentucky State Police. The pursuit ended in the south end of Adair County near the Chance community when Corbin went off the road onto old ATV trails in his 4x4, forcing officers to discontinue the pursuit.
Around midnight last Friday night, information was received that Corbin was setting on an old trail off an area known as Tater Cave, so Sheriff Josh Brockman along with several deputies, multiple troopers, and Kentucky Fish & Wildlife Officers hiked into the area on foot making contact with Corbin about a mile into the trail. Corbin was able to get to his vehicle and elude officers once again heading out the other end of the trail.
Warrants were obtained for Corbin's arrest and on Tuesday, April 9th around noon, Adair Co. Deputy Josh Durbin was able to get a location on Corbin and a vehicle description. Corbin's location was given out and CPD Officer Adam Cravens and Sgt Murphy were able to get him stopped on the Veterans Memorial Bypass and place him in custody.
David Scotty Corbin, 39, was charged with:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine)
- Cultivating Marijuana over 5 plants
- Fleeing and Evading Police, 1st degree
- Wanton Endangerment
- Criminal Mischief, 2nd degree
- Speeding 26 mph over
- Reckless Driving
- Improper Passing
- Terroristic Threatening
The investigation is continuing by the Adair County Sheriffs Office.
