Casey County, KY (May 6, 2019) - On Friday, May 3, 2019 at approximately 4:45pmET, KSP Trooper Billy Begley attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a 2003 BMW for a traffic violation on U.S. 127, 4 miles north of Liberty, KY when the driver began to elude police. The pursuit reached speeds in excess of 100 MPH crossing into Lincoln County and back into Casey County, turning onto KY 78 where the driver lost control of the vehicle at the intersection of KY 49. The Casey County Sheriff’s Department canine assisted at the scene, alerting on the passenger side of the vehicle. A search of the auto resulted in a large amount of suspected methamphetamine being located, along with several syringes and a large sum of cash.
Trooper Begley arrested the driver, 34-year-old Travis Crew of Dunnville, KY and charged him with Speeding 26 MPH over the limit; Improper Registration Plate; Failure to Maintain Insurance, 1st offense; Fleeing or Evading Police, 1st degree (motor vehicle); Wanton Endangerment (police officer); Wanton Endangerment; Resisting Arrest, Reckless Driving, Improper Passing, Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 1st degree, 1st offense (Methamphetamine); DUI 2nd (aggravating circumstances); and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. A passenger, 24-year-old Megan Shuck of Liberty, KY was arrested and charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 1st degree, 1st offense (Methamphetamine); and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Both subjects were lodged in the Casey County Detention Center.
