LWC CAPTURES MID-SOUTH CONFERENCE PRESIDENT'S CUP

COLUMBIA, Ky. – For the 8th year in a row, Lindsey Wilson has captured the Mid-South Conference President’s Cup, conference officials announced on Wednesday.

The Blue Raiders also won the women's all-sports trophy as the men finished in second behind Cumberlands (Ky.) who tallied 68 total points.

Lindsey Wilson scored 133.5 points in the all-sports competition to capture the ninth overall cup in school history. The Blue Raiders tallied 64.5 points in the Men's All-Sports Trophy and 69 points in the Women’s All-Sports Trophy.

The points are awarded based on the final regular-season standings for each conference-sanctioned sport. The regular-season champion or event champion -- in the case where there is no regular season -- in each sport receives 10 points with second place receiving nine points, etc. The top seven male and top seven female team finish for each institution will generate the institution's overall totals.

Cumberlands (Ky.) finished second with 132.5 points, just one point off the pace Lindsey Wilson set while Campbellsville (Ky.) was third with 116.5 points. Cumberland (Tenn.) finished fourth with 107.5 points; Georgetown (Ky.) was fifth with 98.5 points and Pikeville (Ky.) tied for sixth with Shawnee State (Ohio) with 95.5 points. Rounding out the President's Cup standings is Life (Ga.) with 80.5 points.

In the spring, Lindsey Wilson picked up team championships in men's golf, softball, women’s tennis, men’s tennis and women’s outdoor track and field in the spring season.

Cumberlands earned spring championships in baseball, archery, women’s golf and men’s track and field while Cumberland captured the championship in women’s golf and men’s tennis.

Lindsey Wilson is now the conferences all-time leader in Presidents Cup Trophies with nine in their history. Cumberlands has won eight cups for the second most in the MSC as Georgetown has four with two outright cups and a shared title for their third and a fourth cup. Campbellsville won the President's Cup twice and Cumberland owns one.
