RUSSELL CO. FISCAL COURT AWARDED $313,539 IN DISCRETIONARY FUNDS FOR KY 910 & KY 76 INTERSECTION REALIGNMENT

During Monday's Russell County Fiscal Court meeting, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) Department of Rural and Municipal Aid Commissioner Gray Tomblyn II announced $313,539 in discretionary funds for the realignment of the KY 910 and KY 76 intersection.

Resurfacing and shoulder work will address the KY 910/ KY 76 intersection from milepoint 5.469 to milepoint 5.83. The investment supports Governor Matt Bevin's commitment to prioritize transportation infrastructure projects and increase economic opportunity across the Commonwealth.

"The Bevin Administration continues to focus on taking care of what we have at both the state and local level to address critical infrastructure needs that improve safety and support job creation and retention," said KYTC Secretary Greg Thomas. "This funding builds upon existing transportation investments and allows the Cabinet to collaborate with local governments to identify projects that will have large impacts to communities."

The intersection is heavily used by motorists accessing Lake Cumberland and the improvements will better handle large boats, campers and commercial vehicles traveling through the area.

"I would like to thank Governor Bevin, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and District 8 for their help with securing the funding for this project," said Russell County Judge-Executive Gary Robertson. "This realignment project will help out with safety and high traffic issues at the intersection of KY 910 and KY 76."

Projects submitted to the Department of Rural and Municipal Aid for discretionary fund consideration were evaluated by KYTC district staff to assess the condition of roads and determine the most critical needs based on factors such as safety, economic impact, and traffic volumes.

"I'm happy to learn that Russell County has received funding to realign this intersection," said Sen. Max Wise. "This infrastructure upgrade will certainly benefit this community by ensuring that it has safe and dependable roadways."

KYTC is responsible for all phases of work.
