On Saturday night, July 13, 2019 Officers with the Columbia Police Department responded to a report of an unresponsive male behind the wheel of a red Chevrolet at the Dollar General Store on South Hwy 55. The subject (20-year-old Austin Coomer of Columbia), was awakened and briefly checked out by Adair EMS. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of digital scales, an undisclosed amount of marijuana, a number of pills, and a large amount of cash. Coomer was charged with Public Intoxication, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Trafficking in Marijuana, 1st offense (all misdemeanors), and Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 1st degree (Drug Unspecified), a felony.
CPD Officer Drew Conn was the arresting Officer. He was assisted on scene by Officer Anthony Darnell.
