The City of Columbia has received a $3500.00 grant from Walmart Foundation to be utilized for their parks and recreation program.
According to Walmart’s program, they seek to create value in their communities in which the stores are located; and, participate with local grants supporting programs to help communities thrive.
Walmart’s more than two million associates worldwide are residents, neighbors, friends, and family to thousands of communities.
The grant was done in a presentation with Walmart associates at the local store on Burkesville Road. Attending were Mayor Pamela Hoots, as well as Craig Lasley and Terry Johnson from the parks and recreation department.
“We appreciate the support of Walmart,” said Mayor Hoots. “Their commitment to our community is outstanding.”
The Walmart associates have also been working on a location next to city hall, which will be used for local residents in visiting the town.
