Columbia, Ky. (August 1, 2019) – On Wednesday, July 31st, 2019 at approximately 12:58pmCT, KSP Post 15 received a complaint of a possible stolen tractor trailer travelling on the Cumberland Parkway. Trooper Allen Shirley located the vehicle in the Wal-Mart parking lot in Columbia. Trooper Shirley made contact with the driver, 55 year old Lawrence Johnson of Indianapolis Indiana, who appeared to be impaired. Officer Evan Burton with the Columbia Police Department and his and canine partner “Matt” assisted. Trooper Zach Scott and Officer Burton searched the vehicle after the canine alerted on the tractor unit. A large amount of a white, crystal-like substance (believed to be methamphetamine), along with marijuana and drug paraphernalia were located.

 

Johnson was arrested and charged with DUI 1st (aggravating circumstance), Possession of a Controlled Ssubstance, 1st degree, 1st offense (methamphetamine), Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and 392 federal safety reg - driving of motor vehicle. Johnson was lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail.
