Sergeant Gary Roy has officially retired from the Columbia City Police Department effective last week.
Roy, who has served over 20 years in law enforcement, started in patrol and gradually was promoted to sergeant. During his tenure with the Columbia City Police Department, he has worked with various patrol units and handled various administrative duties, including the scheduling for all officers.
“We appreciate the service of Sergeant Gary Roy,” said Mayor Pamela Hoots. “His work ethic during his tenure with the Columbia City Police Department was appreciated, and we wish him well as he starts on a new path in his retirement.”
A formal retirement luncheon will be held in the near future for Sergeant Roy.
“As he enters this phase of his career,” said Chief Jason Cross, “we want to note his outstanding record and commitment he made to our department.”
