Columbia Police Officers responded to Carrie Bollin Drive and Russell Road shortly before 6:30amCT on Wednesday morning after someone called to report an individual who appeared asleep behind the wheel at a stop sign on Carrie Bollin Dr. 

Upon arrival, Officers made contact with Stephen West, 57, of Russell Springs, KY who was passed out behind the wheel of a 2002 Ford Ranger. After West was awoken, he showed signs of intoxication while speaking with Officers and he admitted to previously using marijuana and methamphetamine. 

After a brief roadside investigation, Stephen West was placed into custody and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, 1st offense and Possession of Marijuana, both misdemeanors. West was additionally charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (drug unspecified), a felony.

Officer Charles Greer was the arresting Officer. He was assisted on scene by Sgt. Jr Murphy.
