On Friday evening, August 30, 2019 Columbia Police initiated a traffic stop on a 2001 Pontiac on Burksville Street. Upon making contact with the operator, Officers detected a strong odor of marijuana and K9 "Matt" signaled that drugs were in the car. 32-year-old Adrian Morales of Columbia, KY was arrested on numerous traffic and drug related charges. Morales was additionally charged with Giving Officers a False Name and Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon; a class C felony. He was lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail.
CPD Officer Evan Burton was the arresting Officer. He was assisted on scene by CPD Officer Jordan Dean and Adair County Deputy Josh Durbin.
