On Wednesday, September 4, 2019 the Adair County Sheriffs Office initiated a traffic stop on a 1999 maroon Chevrolet traveling on Jamestown Street.
Upon investigation it was suspected that illegal narcotics were being possessed by occupants of the vehicle. A roadside search of the auto yielded approximately 16 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine along with digital scales and other drug paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking. In addition to the illegal narcotics, over $1,000 in cash was seized by Deputies.
Arrested were:
- William Perkins, 59, of Columbia - Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st degree (Methamphetamine), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Obstructed Windshield and Reckless Driving.
- Carla Perkins, 53, of Columbia - Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Methamphetamine) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She also had an outstanding Warrant of Arrest from Adair District Court .
- John Shelton, 49, of Columbia - Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Methamphetamine) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
All three were lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail by Chief Deputy Justin Cross and Deputy Chandler Staten.
