The 3-vehicle accident occurred just after 4:00pmET on Saturday afternoon, September 7, 2019. According to a Taylor Co. Sheriff's Office news release, 83-year-old Margaret Parson of Campbellsville, KY was traveling west on Spurlington Road, operating a 2008 Chrysler van. Another auto, a 2011 Ford pickup truck being driven by 48-year-old Roy Curry of Campbellsville, KY was traveling west on US 68 East. A 3rd auto, a 2010 Cadillac SUV being driven by 24-year-old Samantha Arnett of Campbellsville, KY was stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of Old Spurlington Road and US 68 East.
As Margaret Parson approached the intersection, witnesses stated she failed to stop and pulled onto US 68 East into the path of Roy Curry's pickup. Curry struck Parson's auto, with the impact causing Parson to strike Samantha Arnett's vehicle. Margaret Parson's auto then overturned.
A passenger with Parson, 83-year-old Samuel Parson of Campbellsville, KY was trapped in the overturned vehicle and had to be freed by Taylor County Fire & Rescue. He was treated by Taylor Co. EMS and flown from the scene by Air Evac.
A passenger in the Curry auto, 41-year-old Susie Cox of Campbellsville, KY was also injured. She was treated at the scene by Taylor Co. EMS and transported to Taylor Regional Hospital where she was treated and later released.
Two passengers with Arnett, 1-year-old Savannah Arnett and 22-year-old Katharen Clements were not injured.
The accident was investigated by Taylor Co. Deputy Dickie Benningfield. The Campbellsville Police Dept., Taylor County Fire & Rescue, and Taylor County EMS assisted at the scene.
