On Friday, October 4th, 2019 at 11:39pmCT, Russell County Deputy Corey Meyer observed two vehicles parked at the back of Parkview Estates. Upon approaching the vehicles, a suspect (later identified as 28-year-old Cortez Lawrence of Bowling Green, KY) fled from the rear of one of the vehicles, into a wooded area. Deputy Meyer gave verbal commands to come out of the woods and the suspect eventually complied and was detained. Deputy's located a red backpack in the wooded area belonging to Cortez, containing marijuana, synthetic marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and other personal items. Deputy's also recovered $500 cash laid on the trunk of the vehicle Cortez fled from.
33-year-old Nathan Keeney of Somerset, KY and 29-year-old Teresa Daniel of Russell Springs, KY were sitting in the auto Cortez fled from. Deputies observed a syringe in plain view inside the vehicle and conducted a search of the auto. Several rolled blunts containing marijuana, a small bag containing synthetic marijuana, several items of drug paraphernalia, 21 Oxycodone pills, and 1 Suboxone pill were located.
Prior to be taken to the Russell County Detention Center, Nathan Keeney was observed by deputy's in the rear of the patrol car trying to destroy a Suboxone pill he had in his possession.
Nathan Keeney (of Somerset) was placed under arrest and lodged in the Russell Co. Detention Center on the following charges:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree (Methamphetamine)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree (Drug Unspecified)
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Tampering with Physical Evidence
Teresa Ann Daniel (of Russell Springs) was arrested and taken to the Russell Co. Jail on the following charges:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree (Methamphetamine)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree (Drug Unspecified)
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Cortez Lawrence (of Bowling Green) was arrested and lodged in the Russell Co. Jail on the following charges:
- Trafficking in Marijuana (less than 8 oz)
- Tampering with Physical Evidence
While at the jail, Deputy's discovered Lawrence had more cash hidden on him totaling $3,103.
Deputy Corey Meyer is the investigating officer. He was assisted on scene by Deputy Nathan Bradshaw, Sgt. Bobby Pritchard, RSPD Officer Lucas Justice, and KSP Trooper Jacob Harper.
