One person was arrested for Failure to Comply with the Sex Offender Registry.
On Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 9th, 2019 the Adair County Sheriff’s Office arrested 62-year-old Roy Stephen Helm in the Sano community of Adair County. Adair County Sheriff Josh Brockman received information from Russell County Sheriff Derek Polston of Helm possibly living in the Sano area near the Adair/Russell Line and was not in compliance with his mandated responsibilities of notifying the authorities of his address change and whereabouts. Failure to comply with the sex offender registration is a Class D Felony in KY.
With the assistance from KSP Criminal Intelligence Analyst Stacy Kelsay, Helm’s identity was confirmed and information was obtained that probable cause existed that he was not in compliance. Sheriff Brockman located Helm in a barn 12 miles east of Columbia where he was arrested and lodged in the Adair Co. Jail.
