On Wednesday, October 9, 2019 the Columbia Police Department executed an arrest warrant for drug trafficking after a lengthy and ongoing investigation.
Kelvin Bowers, 32, of Columbia, KY was apprehended at FiveStar on Hudson Street just before 5:00pmCT. Bowers was charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) and Wanton Endangerment, 1st degree (both felony offenses).
The charges stem from an incident on October 2nd, 2019 when Bowers is believed to have been in possession of 57 grams of methamphetamine with the intent to sell. He discarded the methamphetamine at a local business on a shelf and left the property when he became aware law enforcement was in the area. Bowers is also currently on federal probation for a prior drug trafficking charge. He was lodged in the Adair Co. Regional Jail.
Columbia Police Dept. Officer Evan Burton is the investigating officer. He was assisted at the scene by Officer Jordan Dean and Adair Co. Deputies Justin Cross and Josh Durbin.
