Tompkinsville, KY. (October 25, 2019) – Kentucky State Police investigated a two-vehicle collision, which resulted in a Tompkinsville woman being killed on KY 163 this morning around 6:24amCT.
Preliminary investigation indicates 35-year-old Nicholas Cunningham of Tompkinsville was operating a 1998 Mack dump truck traveling north on KY 163 inside Tompkinsville. Cunningham was stopped to make a left hand turn into J. Stephens Construction, when a 2013 Audi being operated by 52-year-old Melissa Nelson of Tompkinsville struck the rear of the dump truck.
Nelson was not wearing her seat belt and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Monroe County Coroner. Cunningham was uninjured and wearing his seat belt.
Officer 1st Class Casey Tooley is investigating and was assisted on scene by Sgt. Randall Honeycutt, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, EMS, Fire and Rescue.
