The Columbia Police Department responded with Adair EMS to First Choice Immediate Care just outside of the city limits for a possible juvenile drug overdose.
A 16-year-old male juvenile was transported to TJ Health Columbia by Adair EMS for treatment. It was later found he had been allowed access to cannabis concentrate by using a vape pen. Cannabis or marijuana concentrate has a concentrated THC level that may range from 40-80%, while leaf base cannabis typically contains a THC level of no higher than 20%.
After a brief investigation, it was discovered that a female had allowed the juvenile to use the vape pen. She was identified and contact was made. The female admitted she had allowed use from her personal property for the juvenile to use, which resulted in his overdose.
21-year-old Jessica Bennett of Columbia, KY was taken into custody and charged with Possession of Marijuana as well as Unlawful transaction with a minor 2nd degree (a class D felony).
