The Columbia Police Department responded to the single vehicle injury accident early Sunday morning, November 17, 2019 on Fairground Street. The accident occurred when Riley Lynn Baker, 18, of Columbia, KY was operating a 2006 Nissan Altima which left the roadway and hit a tree head-on on the campus of Lindsey Wilson College.
Baker and her passengers, 18-year-old Ashley Pelston of Columbia, KY and a 17-year-old male juvenile, were transported to TJ Health Columbia by Adair EMS for treatment. The juvenile was later flown to the UK Medical Center in Lexington, KY due to the severity of his injuries.
Baker was lodged in the Adair Co. Regional Jail after CPD Officers served an arrest Warrant for another police agency.
Officer Adam Cravens is investigating the accident, with possible charges pending. He was assisted on scene by Officer Jamie Cole and Deputy Josh Durbin. The Columbia-Adair Fire Dept. also responded to the scene.
