26-year-old Ryan Ellis of Nancy and 23-year-old Tyler Hollan of Albany were both apprehended in Clinton County on Sunday by the Clinton County Sheriffs Office. CPD Officers Jordan Dean and Jamie Cole traveled to Clinton and transported both men back to Adair Co. Both were serving the remainder of their time in the Adair County Class D work release facility, and walked away on Friday, November 15th.
After interviewing the inmates, it was discovered once they had walked away from the Class D facility, they came into possession of a pickup truck in the Cane Valley community. Ellis advised he had discovered a rifle that was in the truck, and discarded it by throwing it out of a window. On Sunday evening, Columbia Police Officers went to Cane Valley and began a search for the firearm in an area described by Ellis. The firearm was found in a shallow creek bed just off Cane Valley Road.
Charges are now pending against Ellis & Hollan concerning possession of the pickup truck and for the recovered firearm. The Columbia Police Department is continuing the investigation.
