Today is "H.M. Bottom Day" in Russell County, as proclaimed by Russell County Judge Executive Gary Robertson. The proclamation comes after R.S. Mayor Eddie Thomas announced that the R.S. Fire Station would be renamed the "H.M. Bottom Fire Station". Mr. Bottom has dedicated his life to public service, and it would be hard to find someone who is more well respected in Russell County.
A large crowd of friends, family members, firefighters, public officials, and others gathered at the R.S. Fire Dept. earlier today (Tuesday) for the renaming ceremony.
