The Russell County Public Library is excited to announce that it will be open to the public in the newly constructed library building starting Thursday, December 12, 2019 and will hold the official Grand Opening Celebration on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 with a variety of activities planned that the entire community is invited to take part in.
On Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at 9:00amCT, a massive, framed World War II-era American flag will be unveiled, given on permanent loan to the library by the Russell County Honor Guard. A special ceremony will be held to honor our veterans and celebrate the freedoms they fought for, including the freedom to read. All veterans are invited to attend.
At 10:30amCT on Tuesday, everyone is invited to the Dedication and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, where those who have made this building possible will be recognized and the library will be dedicated to the county.
At 12:00pmCT on Tuesday, the library will host the Russell County Chamber of Commerce for their December meeting, sponsored by Branscum Construction. The meeting will feature a performance by the Lake Cumberland Community Orchestra and the guest speaker will be Senator Max Wise.
