On Saturday, Dec. 14th, 2019 at 2:20pmCT, Deputy Chandler Staten was dispatched to White Oak Church Road to a structure fire. The Columbia-Adair County Fire Department was already on the scene trying to extinguish the fire. While enroute to the fire, Deputy Staten came upon an overturned 1999 Freightliner fire truck that was shuttling water to the pumper trucks at the scene of the fire. The preliminary investigation shows the driver, Jeff Hadley of Columbia, KY had dropped off the shoulder of the roadway. He attempted to recover the truck, but due to the weight of the truck and water shift, was unable to recover it. The truck struck an earth embankment and overturned.
Hadley was treated by Adair EMS then transferred to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY for treatment. Hadley was released from the U.K. Hospital on Saturday night.
