On Monday, December 30, 2019 at 6:25pmET, Campbellsville Police responded to Indian Trail Trailer Park on East Broadway in Campbellsville, KY in reference to someone trespassing and starting a fire behind a residence. After a brief investigation, Officers came into contact with 54-year-old Danny Tungate, who resides in the Trailer Park. As Officers were attempting to place him under arrest, Mr. Tungate became disorderly and ran back into his residence. As Officers entered the residence after Mr. Tungate, they were met by Tungate swinging a shovel and a knife at them.
With the assistance of Taylor County Sheriff’s Deputies and speaking with Danny Tungate for several minutes, he was finally taken into custody without incident was charged with: Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, Wanton Endangerment 1st degree, and Assault 3rd degree (on a police officer). Tungate was lodged in the Taylor County Detention Center.
Campbellsville Police Officer Elliott Taylor is the investigating officer. The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
