On Wednesday, January 8th, 2020 around 3:30amCT, the Adair County Sheriff's Office responded to a single vehicle accident with injury.
A preliminary investigation determined that Nelson Burton, 30, of Columbia, KY was operating a 2008 Chrysler traveling west on 206, when he lost control of his vehicle and skidded sideways off the roadway. The vehicle then struck a tree on the driver’s side and an earth embankment on the passenger side, with the vehicle coming to rest upright in a creek.
Burton was airlifted from the scene by Air Evac to the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, KY for treatment of his injuries.
Adair Co. Deputy Derek Padgett is the investigating officer. He was assisted at the scene by the Adair County and Knifley Fire Departments, and Adair EMS.
