Burkesville, KY (January 20, 2020) - KSP Trooper Ricky Cross is investigating a 2-vehicle injury collision that occurred on Friday, January 17, 2020 at approximately 9:45 PM CST on Glasgow Road, 8 miles west of Burkesville at the intersection of KY 100. 18-year-old Lydia Emberton of Tompkinsville, KY was operating a 2010 Honda traveling west, when she rounded a curve and crossed over the centerline into the path of an oncoming east bound 2016 Dodge Ram, operated by 56 year old Lester Gingerich of Burkesville. Gingerich crossed into the west-bound lane in an attempt to avoid the collision but was unsuccessful as Emberton steered back into the west bound lane at the same time, causing the vehicles to collide head-on.
Emberton and her 19-year-old passenger, Phillip Ford of Gamaliel, KY and Gingerich, along with his 15-year-old passenger were all transported to Cumberland County Hospital by EMS for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Tpr. Cross was assisted by the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department, Cumberland County Emergency Management, Cumberland County Fire Department and Cumberland County EMS.
