At the annual 2020 Kentucky Association of Fairs and Horse Shows annual convention on January 11, 2020 the Adair County Fair was awarded the 2019 Zone 2, Division B, Most Progressive Fair Award. This award is judged in 4 categories: livestock entries, horse entries, food, crop, and youth entries approved for state aid, plus money spent on entries not approved for state aid. Each of the categories are compared both as a number and percent increase or decrease from the previous year. Also considered are promptness of reports and catalog ratings.
The state is divided into 3 zones with each zone having 2 divisions based on population. Division A is counties with populations under 20,000 and Division B is counties with populations over 20,000. County fairs compete for the Most Progressive Fair Awards within their respected zones and divisions. An overall winner and runner-up are selected from the 6 winning counties using the same comparisons.

General upcoming Fair information
Since the Bank of Columbia’s donation of land for use as a new fairground, the public has been asking what’s next. The Adair County Fair Association is happy to announce that they are in negotiations to have a carnival on the donated site in June. During the 2nd week of June, there are plans for a 4 to 5 day carnival at the new location, pageants, and events at the pavilion. Dates will be announced soon for the cattle shows and floral hall. All will tie into bringing back the traditional Adair County Fair.
The Adair Co. Fair Assoc. tells WAVE News that they're moving forward in working to have a full fair again, and are excited to provide this for the community. He goes on to say that they're hoping by next summer to have something for the whole family all in one location. If you would like to assist or donate in any way to this community event, please contact Anthony Brockman at (270) 634-4446.
