A traffic stop for expired registration leads to a drug charge for one Russell County Resident.
Just after 9:00pmCT on Sunday, February 9, 2020 RSPD Officer Lucas Justice observed a vehicle traveling North on Hwy 127. Officer Justice determined the vehicles tag to be expired. Upon a traffic stop and contact with the driver, Officer Justice learned the operator to have two outstanding warrants of arrest. Verbal consent to search was granted. Upon a search of the auto, Officer Justice locating suspected Methamphetamine.
Nathan Rooks, 35, of Russell Springs, KY was arrested and charged with the following:
- No Registration Plates
- No Registration Receipt
- Possession Controlled Substance 1st degree, 1st offense
- Served 2 warrants
Rooks was lodged in the Russell County Detention Center. Officer Justice was assisted on scene by RCSO Deputy John Wine.
