An Elk Horn, KY man dies as a result of a single vehicle collision in northern Adair County on Friday night.

On Friday, February 21, 2020 at 7:19pmCT, Adair County 911 received a call of a single vehicle collision on Elk Horn Rd, approx. 15 miles north of Columbia. Adair County Deputy Joey Keith, along with additional emergency services, responded to the collision.

Preliminary investigation shows that Ronald Woodrum, 67, was operating a 2018 GMC Sierra truck traveling north on Elk Horn Road, along with a 3-year-old passenger. Woodrum lost control of his vehicle, leaving the roadway on the left side and striking a tree.

Woodrum was pronounced deceased at the scene; the 3-year-old child was airlifted to University of Louisville by helicopter. Seatbelts were in use for both driver and passenger. As of Sunday, the child has been released from the hospital.

The investigation is continuing by the Adair County Sheriffs Office. Deputy Joey Keith was assisted on scene by Chief Deputy Justin Cross.

Agencies responding: Knifley Fire Department, Columbia-Adair Fire Department, Adair EMS, Adair County Coroner's Office and the Adair County Sheriffs Office.
