Early this morning (Sunday, May 16th) just before 2:00amCT, a traffic stop was initiated on Exit 46 just off the Cumberland Parkway after Columbia Police Officer Trevor Foster observed a vehicle weaving. Contact was made with the operator who behaved anxious and short with the officer. The driver was asked to exit the vehicle and it was determined he was under the influence. The male subject refused to allow police to search his vehicle. That's when K9 Unit "Cally" was utilized and alerted on the drivers side door where suspected methamphetamine was located.
Noah Ritchie, 30, of Edmonton, KY has been charged with Reckless Driving, DUI 1st, and Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) and lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail.
Officer Trevor Foster made the arrest. He was assisted on scene by Officer Nathan Bradshaw.
