WAVE News has learned that 87-year-old Otis Burton died Saturday, May 29, 2021 from injuries sustained in an accident that occurred last Wednesday, May 26, 2021 just before 10:00amCT at the intersection of KY 206 and Haven Hill Cemetery Road.
The accident occurred when 35-year-old Michael Keltner of Columbia, KY, who was operating a 2019 ambulance traveling east on KY206 with the emergency equipment activated, attempted to pass Mr. Burton who was attempting to make a left turn into Haven Hill Cemetery. Keltner struck Burton in the driver’s side causing moderate damage. Burton’s vehicle continued into the cemetery striking several headstones. Michael Keltner continued on striking a rock wall and a telephone pole.
Burton was belted and was transported to TJ Health Columbia; Keltner was belted and was not seriously injured.
The collision remains under investigation by KSP Tpr. Zach Scott.
