On Saturday, November 18, 2023 the body of Private First Class Henry Wade arrived in Russell County. An escort bringing Mr. Wade back to Russell County was held on Saturday afternoon.
Private First Class Henry C. Wade, 24, of Russell Springs, KY, born November 29, 1919 the son of the late Hugh & Leona Luttrell Wade, was killed in action during WWII in the European Area on November 12, 1944.
His siblings were Amy Luttrell, Ruby Childress, Olive Massey, Hester Wade, his twin Edward K. Wade, Byron Wade and Hazel Abbott. Survivors include a host of nieces & nephews.
A visitation will be on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 from 5:00pm-7:00pmCT with military medals presented to the family during that time at Wilson Funeral Home.
Full military honors will be performed at Mill Springs National Cemetery at Nancy, KY on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 12:30pmET.
The procession to the cemetery will be leaving Wilson Funeral Home at 10:45amCT on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 taking the route of Hwy west 80 to Hwy 127 south, and then east to the Cumberland Parkway and on to Mill Springs National Cemetery in Nancy, KY. Anyone desiring to be part of the procession should be at the funeral home by 10:45amCT on November 29th.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy are requested to be a contribution to the Russell County Honor Guard, 1169 East Highway 80, Russell Springs, KY 42642.
