Due to the new system installed at the Adair County Clerks Office, Clerk Lisa Greer says there are some changes before any renewals or transactions can be processed.
You will need one of the following ID’s:
- KY Driver’s License
- Ky ID
- Social Security Card or
- Physical insurance card - If on your phone it can be printed in the Clerk's office) OR contact your insurance agent and have it faxed to the Clerk's office (fax # 270-384-4805)
RENEWALS (one of the following is needed):
- Plate number
- Vin number
- Renewal card (that's mailed by the State) or
- Registration paper (from previous renewal)
IF SELLING A VEHICLE:
- If your plate has not expired, please remove it (because it stays with you) and the plate can be put on another vehicle that you own - REMINDER: YOU CANNOT PHYSICALLY DO THIS YOURSELF; BOTH PLATES HAVE TO BE BROUGHT INTO THE CLERKS OFFICE TO PROCESS
- Proof of insurance for the vehicle purchased and
- One of the ID's listed above
