At 11:45amCT on Monday, Russell County Search & Rescue, South Russell Fire Dept., Jamestown Fire Dept. and Russell County Emergency Management responded to a call from a kayaker who needed assistance while clinging to a log on the Cumberland River. The teams swiftly mobilized, and Russell County Search & Rescue reached the kayaker to find him safe, dry, and still in his kayak. Although he was unable to paddle upstream, he was unharmed. The kayaker was transported back to his launch point.
