On Saturday morning, April 4, 2026, the Eli Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire at Prudy Hill boat ramp. First-arriving personnel located a very large pile of driftwood and debris burning on the bank of Lake Cumberland and beginning to extend up the hillside to residential areas. Access to the fire was very challenging due to dry and windy conditions. Equipment had to be carried several yards down the bank of the lake and personnel was able to bring the fire under control by cutting a line around the perimeter of the fire and using float pumps, hose, and water to extinguish the fire.
The USACE Rangers and Ky. Division of Forestry were notified and responded to the incident as well. Personnel from Marina Rowena also responded with boats and portable pumps for assistance.
