19-year-old Jeremiah Nickens of Windsor, KY was heading westbound on Highway 80 in the Royville community, operating a white 2016 GMC Sierra, when he lost control of the vehicle, ran off the road and hit an electric pole, causing the vehicle to flip. The force of the impact broke the electric pole, knocking it down along with breaking multiple lines. Several residents were without power for over an hour until SKRECC could restore service.
Jeremiah was transported to Russell County Hospital by Russell County EMS with lacerations to his head, along with other cuts and scratches.
Assisting at the scene was the Russell Springs Fire Department, EMS, SKRECC Linemen, and property owners who provided first aid.
