T.J. Health Columbia Awarded Acute Stroke Ready Hospital Certification from Joint Commission

Columbia, KY – T.J. Health Columbia has earned Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® and the American Stroke Association’s Heart-Check mark for Acute Stroke Ready Hospital Certification.

T.J. Health Columbia underwent a rigorous, onsite review. During the visit, a team of Joint Commission reviewers evaluated compliance with related certification standards, including delivering and facilitating clinical care. Joint Commission standards are developed in consultation with healthcare experts and providers, measurement experts, and patients. The reviewers also conducted onsite observations and interviews.

“Acute Stroke Ready Hospital Certification recognizes healthcare organizations committed to striving for excellence and fostering continuous improvement in patient safety and quality of care,” says Ken Grubbs, DNP, MBA, RN, executive vice president of Accreditation and Certification Operations and chief nursing executive, Joint Commission. “We commend T.J. Health Columbia for using Joint Commission’s certification process to reduce variation in clinical processes and to strengthen its clinical program to drive safer, higher-quality and more compassionate care for individuals served.”

“We congratulate T.J. Health Columbia for this outstanding achievement,” says Nancy Brown, chief executive officer, the American Stroke Association. “This certification reflects its commitment to providing the highest quality of care for stroke patients.”

“Time is critical for stroke patients, and minutes count. By going through this process of accreditation, we are able to offer these patients high-quality care efficiently and expeditiously,” stated Brandon Dickey, Chief Quality Officer and Chief of Hospital Operations at T.J. Health Columbia. “Our patients deserve this, and we are excited to be able to offer the same level of care in the Emergency Department at T.J. Health Columbia as we do at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. This is a huge step for our patients in Adair County.”

This certification confirms that the T.J. Health Columbia team is prepared 24/7 to provide high quality, life-saving stroke care close to home.
