Kentucky State Police Arrests Clinton County Man on Domestic Violence Charges
Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 15 Troopers have arrested a man in an investigation of a domestic violence incident that occurred in Clinton County.
On the afternoon of August 13, 2026, Senior Trooper Brandon Poole responded to a report of a domestic violence incident between a male and female at a residence in Clinton County. Trooper Poole arrived at the residence and located the victim with obvious visual injuries to her face and neck. The victim reported that she had been strangled and struck in the face by Jacob Smith during an altercation with him. The victim also reported that Mr. Smith had threatened to kill her during the altercation. Furthermore, Trooper Poole learned that the victim currently had an active protection order against Mr. Smith.
Prior to Trooper Poole’s arrival, Mr. Smith fled into a wooded area behind the property. Trooper Poole performed an exhaustive search of possible locations for Mr. Smith, but was unable to locate him at that time.
The following morning, KSP Troopers arrived at a residence on Browns Pond Wago Road in Clinton County and located Jacob Smith, 38, of Albany. Upon making contact with Mr. Smith, Trooper Poole arrested and charged him with the following charges:
Strangulation, 1st Degree (Domestic Violence)
Assault, 4th Degree (Domestic Violence) – Minor Injury
Terroristic Threatening, 3rd Degree
Violation of Kentucky EPO/DVO
The investigation continues and is being led by Trooper Poole.
