Complex Rope Rescue on Lake Cumberland – Jabez Area

At approximately 1:30 PM on August 27, Search and Rescue responded to a logging accident near the water’s edge on Lake Cumberland in the Jabez area. An individual was struck by a falling tree and fell nearly 200 feet down a steep embankment, coming to rest dangerously close to a 30?foot bluff.

Rescue crews on scene quickly established multiple rope systems, and several rescuers and EMTs rappelled down to reach the patient. The individual was stabilized, packaged in a Stokes basket, and hoisted back to the top of the embankment where a helicopter crew assumed patient care. The patient was then airlifted for further treatment.
