State Sen. Max Wise (R-Campbellsville) was named a recipient of the 2026 "Friend of Kentucky Cities" Award in recognition of his legislative leadership and support for local municipalities.
Representatives from the Kentucky League of Cities (KLC)—including Director of Government Affairs Gracie Kelly and Government Affairs Associate Emma Wilson—joined members of the Bowling Green Board of Commissioners to present the award to Wise during their Sept. 15 meeting.
As Senate Majority Floor Leader, Wise played a central role in guiding state policy and advocating for local government priorities during the 2026 Regular Session of the General Assembly.
"Senator Wise has been a strong advocate for Kentucky's cities and understands the important role they play in moving the Commonwealth forward," said KLC Executive Director and CEO J.D. Chaney. "His leadership in the Senate and willingness to listen to the needs of local officials have helped ensure that city priorities remain part of important policy discussions in Frankfort."
KLC presents the "Friend of Kentucky Cities" award annually to state lawmakers who demonstrate outstanding advocacy for issues impacting communities across the Commonwealth.
Kelly praised Wise for keeping lines of communication open with local leaders. "Senator Wise recognizes that decisions made in Frankfort have a direct impact on the ability of cities to serve their residents," Kelly said. "We appreciate his accessibility, his willingness to hear from city officials, and his continued commitment to working with KLC."
