On Saturday, September 19, 2026 at approximately 2:48 a.m., the Russell Springs Volunteer Fire Department (RSVFD) responded to a house fire on Oak Street.
The home sustained severe damage. Eleven volunteer firefighters worked for approximately two and a half hours to extinguish the blaze.
The Russell Springs Police Department and Kentucky Utilities assisted at the scene.
No injuries were reported. It is under investigation by the Russell Springs Police Department.
40-year-old Joshua York has been lodged in the Russell County Detention Center and charged with:
ARSON, 1ST DEGREE
CRIMINAL MISCHIEF, 1ST DEGREE &
ALCOHOL INTOXICATION IN A PUBLIC PLACE-1ST & 2ND Degree.
