Kentucky State Police Detective Josh Amos has been named the 2026 Narcotic Officer of the Year by the Kentucky Narcotic Officers’ Association.
A 14-year veteran of the state police, Detective Amos serves with the Drug Enforcement Special Investigations (DESI) West unit. The honor recognizes his extensive work targeting drug trafficking operations across the commonwealth.
The award highlights a major investigation launched by Amos in August 2025 into methamphetamine distribution in the Bowling Green area. That operation ultimately yielded five federal indictments and led to the seizure of substantial illicit narcotics and currency, including:
68 pounds of methamphetamine
29.8 pounds of marijuana
2.6 pounds of cocaine
$31,000 in cash
State police praised Amos's dedication to public safety and his ongoing efforts to disrupt drug trafficking networks in Kentucky communities.
