Russell Jones, 81, of Columbus, Ohio, died October 1, 2017 at Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus. He was born May 23, 1936, in Montpelier, Kentucky, to the late Ezra and Lynn Groves Jones. He served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam War and then went to work for the Department of Defense. He grew up in the church and gave his life to our Lord at an early age.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers; Eugene, Charlie, Rollin and Jerry Jones and three sisters; Mammie Lee, Ida Miller and Carine Anderson.

8 grandchildren: Dominique Tharp, Benjamin Jones, Nicholas Jones, Vlices Garcia, Cindy Garcia, Timothy Jones, Jakob Jones, Zachary Jones
3 great-grandchildren: Maliya Gavin, Arionna Tharp, Camerin Tharp

Funeral service – Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Rev. Howard Britt delivering the eulogy. Burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Visitation after 11:00 A.M. Wednesday.
