Michael Ray Mondie, of Liberty, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2017, at the Lexington VA Medical Center, having attained the age of 46.
Born on May 31, 1971, in Louisville, Kentucky, he was the son of Jackie Ray and Catherine Ann Herbort Mondie. He was a program manager. Michael was a noble person and a true hero. He served his country in the Gulf War through the United States Navy. He was a Nuclear Power Machinist. Michael loved fishing and hunting. He was an avid Cincinnati Bengals fan.
Michael is survived by his father, retired United States Navy Force Master Chief of the Military Sealift Command, Jackie Ray Mondie; his mother, Catherine Mondie of Virginia Beach, Virginia; two sisters, Cynthia Ann Starnes of Virginia Beach, Virginia and April Patriarca of Nashville, Tennessee; his step-mother, Maria Mondie of Liberty; and his service dog, Hero. He is also survived by a niece, Ashlee Seim; and two nephews, Andrew Mondie and Christopher Starnes.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Gilbert Mondie officiating. Burial will follow in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery with military honors provided by the Casey County Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 16, 2017, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.
