EDITH MAE ALLEN WILKINSON, 79, DANVILLE

 
Edith Mae Allen Wilkinson, of Danville, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at her home in Danville. She was 79.
 
Born on June 10, 1938, in Adair Co. KY, she was a daughter of the late Permelia Allen Coulter. Edith was a cook at Danville Country Club for over forty years. She also worked as a cook at Bate Middle School and Pioneer Playhouse; as well as working at Palm Beach. She was a member of Hopeful Gospel Church. She loved her family, crocheting, and sewing. Edith was the Valedictorian of her graduating class at Bate School.
 
She is survived by her two daughters, Ruby (and Doug) Walker and Cora “Sissi” Hamilton, both of Danville; two sons, Emanuel Gray and Ambers Wilkinson, Jr., both of Danville; and a host of nieces and nephews. Other survivors include eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Margaret Whitehead of Harrodsburg, Betty Jean Coulter of Danville, and Sue Coulter of Danville.
 
In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ambers Wilkinson, Sr., whom she wed on October 15, 1960; a sister; and six brothers, Robert L. Coulter, George Edward Coulter, Willie Ray Coulter and Billy Joe Coulter. 
 
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at Gethsemane Baptist Church in Danville, KY., with Rev. Casey M. Curtis officiating. Burial will follow in Hilldale Cemetery.
 
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at Gethsemane Baptist Church in Danville. 
 
In lieu of flowers, contributions of sympathy may be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure to Susan G. Komen, 5005 L.B.J. Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, TX 75244 or the Dementia Society of America to PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901.
