DOUGLAS THIERY, 74, COLUMBIA

 
Douglas Arnold Thiery, age 74, of Columbia, KY died Monday, October 23, 2017 at 7:50 AM at Jane Todd Crawford Hospital ER in Greensburg, KY. 
 
He was born on April 06, 1943 in Chicago, IL, the son of the late George and Arlene Bonnevier Thiery.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother David Thiery and great-granddaughter Luna Younger in November 2016.
 
Douglas is survived by his wife Diane Kuntz Thiery of Columbia, KY.
 
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children: Kenneth Thiery and his wife Willa of Columbia,KY, Fransisca Mullally and her husband Cam of Connelly Springs, North Carolina, Dorina Green and her husband Kevin of Columbia, KY, Dougy Thiery of Shepherdsville and Adriane Thiery of Gradyville, KY.
 
One adopted son: Shawn Reeder of Bowling Green, KY.
 
15 Grandchildren: Linnea Tarter, Aaron Younger, Alicia Burton, Eddie Colon, Abby Colon, Emily Colon, Kortney Warkentin, Emily Rose Cox, Tori Wurzelbacher, Bre Thiery, Lil Douggie Thiery, Roxy Matthews, Didi Dorman, Ellie and Ethan Belcher.
 
7 Great-grandchildren: Lillea Tarter, Siddalee Tarter, Addilyn Burton, Dallas Mathews, Levi Matthews and Zander Thiery.
 
Brother-in-law and sister’s-in-law: Chuck & Linda Kuntz and Paula & the late Larry Pridmore.
 
Several nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends survive.
 
Douglas was a beloved husband; father and grandfather who fully supported many professional careers with his devoted character and time spent alongside Diane at home visits and nursing home rounds as they ventured throughout Adair County to meet the medical needs of many.  He was of the Methodist faith and a Master Carpenter whose beautiful work is evident in homes of the ones he loved as he helped his family construct their homes.  He also enjoyed horse racing and traveling with family.
 
Funeral service: Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home. Clergy officiating Rev. Glenn LaFond
 
Burial: Haven Hill Cemetery
 
Visitation: Wednesday, October 25, 2017 after 4:30 PM at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.
 
The family is requesting expressions of sympathy be made to Hosparus of Green River and donations can be made at the funeral home.
 
Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in charge of funeral arrangements.
 
Pall bearers: Dougy Thiery, Shawn Reeder, Eddie Colon, Aaron Younger, Ethan Blecher and Kenny Thiery.
