BOBBY BROCKMAN, 61, CAMPBELLSVILLE

Bobby Brockman, age 61 of Campbellsville, KY, son of the late Albert Brockman and Anna Mary Perkins Brockman, was born October 29, 1956 in Taylor County, KY. He died Sunday, January 7, 2018 in Campbellsville.

Bobby’s storied career started while attending the University of Tennessee and working as a manager for Coach Ray Mears. Years later, it would be safe to say that anyone who watched, played, listened to or talked about sports around the state knows the name “Bobby Brockman”. He was the sports editor for the Central Kentucky News Journal for over thirty-two years, sports historian for Campbellsville University Athletics and the sports aficionado for both the Big Dawg and WAVE radio stations. His enthusiasm for the game was evident through his personality and work ethic. As if work and raising a family wasn’t enough, he also made time to coach some local softball leagues and enjoy some camaraderie during lunch at Jeff’s Food Mart.

He united in marriage to Sonja Noel October 27, 1984.

Besides his wife, Sonja Noel of Campbellsville, he is survived by three daughters: Rachel Brockman, Melanie Brockman and fiance’, Zachary Richerson and Savanna Brockman of Campbellsville, one granddaughter, Eden Caroline Kent of Campbellsville; one brother and one sister:  Joe Brockman and wife, Amy of Windsor, Kentucky and Sandra Spurling and husband, Danny of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Buddy Brockman December 31, 1982 and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Charles and Josephine Noel.
